LAKE DISTRICT HOTEL TAKES INSPIRATION FROM VIEWS FOR NEW LOOK INTERIORS

A family-run Lake District hotel has taken inspiration for a major refurbishment from its stunning views. The Embleton Spa Hotel, near Cockermouth, in Cumbria, completed the revamp of its bar and restaurant ahead of its reopening to guests last month, following the easing of the Government’s lockdown restrictions. The new decor and furnishings for the hotel were chosen to reflect the hotel’s location, which overlooks the Lakeland fells. Ali and Jo Dixon brought in interior specialists Ghyll House Upholstery to work on the project.

Ali said: “ We decided to take the opportunity to refresh the bar and restaurant while we were closed during lockdown. Ghyll House came highly recommended and they did a superb job, working with us on the choice of fabrics and furnishings to achieve the country house look and feel we wanted to achieve. It has been a very strange time for the hospitality industry over the past 12 months and it’s been wonderful to be able to welcome guests through the doors once again.”

Ghyll House Upholstery, which is based at Mealsgate, near Cockermouth, has extensive experience in the hospitality sector, working with a range of hotel, leisure and other businesses to create quality interiors for clients.
The team created new banquette seating for the bar at Embleton Spa Hotel, as well as reupholstering the seating which was already in place. They also supplied new upholstered chairs, as well as curtains and roman blinds.

Fine wool fabric from the National Trust collection by Moon was used to reupholster the chairs and banquette seating, with material from the same collection used for the soft furnishings.

Joe McAlpine, general manager at Ghyll House Upholstery, said: “We worked closely with Ali and Jo throughout the project to ensure they got the right result. The hotel is in a fantastic location and the stylish, comfortable interiors reflect the setting. We were pleased we could help.”

Originally an 18th century Lakeland farmhouse and barn, the 12-bedroom hotel includes five bedrooms and seven hotel-apartments.
Guests dining in the restaurant can enjoy views towards Ling Fell, Sale Fell and Skiddaw, and seasonally inspired modern and traditional dishes created by head chef Keiran Heavey.

The hotel also boasts a 14-metre swimming pool, steam room and fully equipped gym. Along with the bar and restaurant, the hotel’s bedrooms were also redecorated during lockdown, and new bathrooms installed in two of the rooms.

Ali and Jo bought the business and moved to the Lake District seven years ago for a change in lifestyle.

Ali had previously travelled the world with his job in IT and the couple decided to make the move so they could raise their family in the countryside.
“I was brought up in the North East and used to come to the Lake District most weekends as a child,” said Ali. “I always hoped I’d be able to move here some day and we love bringing up our three children here. We are all about relaxed, informal hospitality at the hotel and our aim is for our guests to feel as if it’s a home away from home .”

GH HELP HOSPITALITY BUSINESSES PREPARE TO OPEN

The team at Ghyll House Upholstery has been working with cafés, bars, caravan parks and hotels to ensure venues are ready to welcome back the public, as businesses reopen for indoor service and overnight stays.

Joe McAlpine, general manager of Ghyll House Upholstery, which is based in Mealsgate, near Cockermouth, Cumbria, said the team had worked with a number of different clients on interiors projects, including recovering existing chairs and seating, and creating new chairs, banquette seating and soft furnishings for venues.

He said: “We’ve been working non-stop for clients on refurbishment projects to ensure they are ready to welcome back customers in time for the easing of restrictions. Many business owners in the hospitality sector have taken the opportunity during lockdown to update the interior of their venues, and it’s great that we’ve been able to help them through our specialist upholstery services. We work closely with clients to ensure they get exactly what they need, from matching fabrics to existing items of furniture, to creating curtains and blinds.”

The Ghyll House team has worked with a variety of hospitality businesses across Cumbria over the past couple of months. At The Wild Strawberry cafe in Keswick, the team upholstered banquette seating for a large alcove, as part of a major refurbishment project. The venue in Main Street will reopen on Tuesday, May 25, with its sister cafe in Grasmere, Emma’s Dell, reopening on Monday, May 17.

Formerly a crêperie, The Wild Strawberry will relaunch as a cafe and patisserie, with a cake counter and afternoon teas as well as a lunch menu.

Owner Emma Bray said: “We felt the time was right for a change and we were delighted when Paula Murchison, who was previously head pastry chef at the Sharrow Bay Hotel at Ullswater, joined the team. “The cafe has been completely refurbished and we’re delighted with the result.”

Ghyll House Upholstery has also created cushions for seating and beds in three new camping pods at the Harbour Side Caravan Park in Maryport, which installed the pods and almost tripled its number of caravan pitches to meet the demand from visitors.

The team has also worked on projects at the Embleton Spa Hotel, near Cockermouth; the Glen Rothay Hotel at Rydal, near Ambleside; the clubhouse at Cockermouth Golf Club; and Grasslot Welfare Sports and Social Club in Maryport.

From Monday, the rules in England change to allow pubs, bars, restaurants and other hospitality businesses to open indoor areas.
Customers will be required to order, eat and drink while seated with table service, although there will be no curfew or ‘substantial meal’ restrictions which had been imposed prior to the latest lockdown. Customers will also be able to meet in groups of up to 30 in outdoor areas such as beer gardens, which have been open since April 12 with ‘rule of six’ curbs in place. Groups of up to six people or two households can meet indoors.
People will also be able to stay in hotels and visit cinemas, concert halls and other leisure venues.

Ghyll House also offers a range of cost-effective interior solutions, including specialist fast-acting, durable antimicrobial fabrics and vinyls, proven to be effective against coronavirus.

Joe McAlpine, general manager of Ghyll House Upholstery and Design, said: “With a winter of restrictions ahead, now is a good time to think about any updates your caravan, motorhome or campervan might require before the summer so you’re ready for the new holiday season.

“Many people are buying a caravan or campervan, updating it and making it their own home-from-home for their holidays. New upholstery can give it a new lease of life. The better the quality of the foam and fabric, the more comfortable it’s going to be. We’ve fitted many different vehicles and caravans over the years,” said Joe. “Campervans have become more popular in recent years, with people investing in them as DIY projects to create their own space.”

Ghyll House Upholstery and Design, which is based at Mealsgate, near Cockermouth, said the upholstery service was also popular with owners of static caravans looking to update their holiday homes.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, staycations experienced a boom during 2020. The Caravan and Motorhome Club reported a 35 per cent increase in bookings over the summer; a trend which is expected to be repeated this year. A spokesperson for the organisation said: “This demonstrates how keen campers, caravanners, motorhomers and campervanners are to enjoy the great outdoors and the freedom and peace of mind that touring holidays provide.”

Andrew Bell, from Wigton, has enjoyed caravan holidays since he was a child and now owns two tourers - a caravan which he and his wife Jane use for UK breaks, and a vintage 1979 Viking Fibreline which they take to classic car shows, along with their 1977 Ford Granada 2.0 GL. After buying the Viking on the internet 10 years ago, Andrew had only some small renovation work done to the vehicle and chose to keep the original upholstery. However, last winter, the caravan was fully restored with a full respray and timber frame repairs and Andrew decided it was time to get the upholstery refitted too.

He said: “The foam was so old it was getting uncomfortable to sit on so that’s when we approached Ghyll House. They did a superb job keeping the original vintage look of the cushions, while also making it much more comfortable. We’re delighted with the end result. Because of Covid-19 we haven’t been able to take it to the places we would usually go, but hopefully next year we’ll get a chance to.”

Due to restrictions, Ghyll House offers a service where caravan owners can arrange to send measurements to the company, which will then create made-to-measure cushions to the customer’s choice of fabric and design. These will then be delivered directly to the client.

“We’re doing everything we can in the current climate to help make life easier for our customers,” said Joe.

HOSPITAL CALLS IN GH FOR UPHOLSTERY WORK

A hospital education centre has gone the extra mile to ensure the safety of staff and students with the help of Ghyll House Upholstery + Design.

Chairs and seats at the James George Education Centre at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle have been reupholstered in an easy-to-clean, antimicrobial surface to help prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The work was done by Ghyll House Upholstery and Design based at Mealsgate, near Cockermouth in Cumbria. It is the latest in a series of projects in the medical sector for the Ghyll House team, which has completed similar work for several GP surgeries in Cumbria and Yorkshire.

Classroom chairs along with seating in the reception area and staff rest space were reupholstered with an antimicrobial vinyl in anthracite grey, replacing the original fabric covering.

Stephen Graham, Library and Learning Facilities Manager at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, said it was essential that the facilities at the education centre met the highest possible standards.

He said: “The education of the Trust’s staff is vitally important and

must continue whatever circumstances we are currently experiencing.

“Training is mandatory and ensures staff can deliver in their roles based on the best possible evidence and good practice.

“The existing fabric covered chairs were simply not fit for purpose in the current climate. I had been investigating the possibility of buying new chairs when I discovered that Ghyll House could reupholster our existing chairs in an easy-to-sanitise material. It proved to be cheaper than buying new chairs and also meant we could support a local firm.”

Ghyll House reupholstered more than 50 items for the centre including 46 classroom chairs and six seats from the reception and staff rest area. The work was carried out at the firm’s workshop in Mealsgate, with minimal visits to the education centre and in accordance with Covid-19 restrictions.

Stephen said: “Ghyll House did a great job. They were organised, efficient and delivered exactly what we needed. I would definitely recommend them.”

Joe McAlpine, general manager of Ghyll House Upholstery and Design, which is using its expertise to help the medical sector adapt to Covid-19.

He said: “Antimicrobial fabrics and vinyls provide a fast-acting, effective and durable surface which can be easily sanitised to ensure the highest possible hygiene standards.

“We were pleased to be able to help the team at the James George Education Centre and provide a suitable alternative to their existing fabric covered chairs.”

The James George Education Centre provides training and education to staff at the Cumberland Infirmary. The classrooms and seminar rooms are used for teaching health education across a range of sectors from resuscitation to health and safety, along with clinical training for junior doctors and nursing staff. The centre also has a lecture theatre and library.

In 2017, it was renamed the James George Education Centre after Dr James (Jim) George, a former elderly care consultant at the Trust and clinical director for research and development, who advocated the importance of education and research.

The North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust also runs and manages an education centre at the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven.

The historic 42-bedroom pub with rooms reopened following an 18-month redevelopment. As part of the work, the Ghyll House team created curtains and blinds throughout the venue, and recovered chairs in the bedrooms and fixed seating in the bar area.

Joe McAlpine, Ghyll House general manager, said: “It was great to be part of such a big project in the heart of the Lake District. We were able to use our expertise to deliver stylish and practical upholstery and soft furnishings as part of this major refurbishment.”

Joe and the Ghyll House team worked on dozens of pieces of furniture at their base at Mealsgate, near Cockermouth, using a specific palette of fabrics, which was in keeping with the new look of the inn.

The team have extensive experience in the hospitality sector, working with a range of hotel, leisure and other businesses across the north of England and Scotland to create quality, on-brand interiors for clients.

INN STYLE

Ghyll House Upholstery and Design was part of the team involved in the multi-million pound revamp of The Coniston Inn, formerly The Waterhead Hotel, on the shores of Coniston Water in the English Lake District.

Chris Moor, operations manager for The Inn Collection Group, which owns The Coniston Inn, said they were delighted to work with a Cumbrian company that delivered such a quality service.

H e said: “The Inn Collection Group pride themselves on their local and community connections. We were delighted to work with a Cumbrian company of the calibre of Ghyll House who provided the upholstery fabrics and soft furnishings for our exciting new Coniston Inn as part of its multi-million pound refurbishment. The design brief included fabrics that would both be in keeping with the surroundings and the inn’s classic heritage while being practical and hard wearing as our inns are all walkers, outdoors and pet friendly. We want customers to feel relaxed and at home when they enter our doors whether they are enjoying an evening out, or have stepped straight off the fells. Ghyll House certainly delivered on all areas producing an end result that is aesthetically stunning while being fully functional.”

Ghyll House was sub-contracted by Cumbrian construction firm Thomas Armstrong, who were the main contractors for the work on The Coniston Inn.

Conor Tinnion, a quantity surveyor with Thomas Armstrong who was involved in the project, said: “ We were pleased to be involved in such a prestigious development in a beautiful location on the shores of Coniston Water. It’s a great addition to the local area for both visitors and locals.”

The redevelopment included a redesign of the bar and dining area to create an open-plan space which makes the most of the lake and fell views. A new extension with 21 extra bedrooms was added as part of the work and is designed to complement the original Lakeland slate building.

The former Waterhead Hotel has been welcoming guests for more than a century and its revamped interiors draw on its heritage, with vintage memorabilia and photo murals on the walls.

Guests can take advantage of direct lake access from a private jetty and enjoy four acres of mature gardens. Its green credentials include a sustainable reed bed water purifying system, a biomass boiler and an on-site herb garden for the kitchen. The bedrooms include fully rechargeable lanterns to light the way for guests walking into the nearby Coniston village after dark.

The Coniston Inn is part of an award-winning portfolio of pubs with rooms across the north of England. The Inn Collection Group’s ethos is to create welcoming, relaxing environments for walkers, cyclists and outdoors enthusiasts as well as families and dog owners.

FARLAM HALL REFURBISHMENT

Luxury country house hotel, Farlam Hall is set to welcome back guests after a major refurbishment. To achieve the desired quality appearance and elegant atmosphere they brought in furnishings and design experts Ghyll House Upholstery and Design to carry out key elements of the refurbishment.

Boutique 12-bedroom hotel Farlam Hall, near Brampton in Cumbria, is ideally situated for guests to explore the English Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall, and Scotland. The family-run hotel, with two AA Rosettes, known for offering a personal service and excellent food in tranquil surroundings, welcomes back guests from July 31. Before and during lockdown the hotel’s owners have made a significant investment to ensure a high standard of relaxation and comfort for all their guests.

To achieve the desired quality appearance and elegant atmosphere they brought in furnishings and design experts Ghyll House Upholstery and Design to carry out key elements of the refurbishment. Bb Hall, who runs the hotel with husband Peter, is full of praise for the way the team at Ghyll House have delivered to the brief, and ensured the hotel is ready to welcome back guests later this month.

Farlam Hall general manager Bb said: “The owners wanted to put back all the aspects which make Farlam Hall such a wonderful country house hotel and such a lovely place to relax. We wanted some furniture reupholstering because sometimes you can’t find the same quality with new furniture. We were looking at what furnishings we needed and what colours and designs we wanted and we came across Ghyll House Upholstery and Design.”

Based at Mealsgate near Cockermouth, Ghyll House is well-known for its high quality workmanship. The Ghyll House team, led by general manager Joe McAlpine, serve a range of hotel, leisure, and other businesses across the north of England and Scotland.

Ghyll House’s involvement with Farlam Hall’s refurbishment is the latest chapter in the hotel’s enchanting back story. The 19th century hotel with three on-site cottages all set within six-acres of tranquil grounds is the ideal getaway, while still being ideally positioned for surrounding sights and easily accessible by road, rail and air. When American couple Joseph Walter and Kathy Mares stayed at Farlam Hall almost 30 years ago they fell head over heels in love with it. So much so that they vowed if they were ever in a position to buy it as their own one day that they would,

That day came in April last year when the couple, who live in Seattle, purchased the hotel from the Quinion family who had owned the hotel for the previous 44 years. Joseph and Kathy hired Peter and Bb, who had spent the previous 28 years managing the 26-bedroom Wadenhoe House hotel in Northamptonshire, to run Farlam Hall.

Ahead of lockdown Joseph and Kathy were working with the Halls to refresh the rooms and return them to their period splendour with all the additional comforts guests would expect from a boutique hotel in 2020. Bb said: “Joseph and Kathy wanted the hotel to be put back to how it would have been. Kathy and I like the same things and the same look and I have really enjoyed working with her to make the changes.”

Bb stressed that working with Ghyll House Upholstery and Design was in line with the hotel’s policy of trying to support as many quality local businesses as possible. “We try to buy local wherever it is feasible,” she said.

Cumbrian Kitchens has worked with Farlam Hall on many aspects of the refurbishment including the new Lounge Bar. he hotel is also having a brand new kitchen installed where executive chef Stephen Pott and head chef Matt Jefferson will work their magic to ensure guests enjoy a fine dining experience. Many of the hotel’s ingredients will come from the vegetable garden in the hotel’s stunning new walled garden and a herb garden at the rear of the terrace.

Bb said: “We know the farmer who supplies our beef. We use locally produced butter. Our pastry chef Mel Dixon does amazing afternoon teas and we bake all our own bread. It’s also important to Bb and Peter that guests who come to Farlam Hall in 2020 experience the same level of get-away-from-it-all luxury that they would always have expected – with or without the lockdown.

The Halls have worked hard to put a full range of safety measures in place, all done in a sensitive way so as not to impinge on guests’ enjoyment of this idyllic retreat. “We have done our full risk assessment and have been awarded the AA Covid Confident Accreditation to ensure we are complying with all the regulations while still allowing our guests to enjoy the full Farlam Hall experience,” said Bb. “We are lucky in that we have a front entrance, a side entrance and a back entrance so we can have the appropriate flow of people through the hotel. We have extended the grounds outside so that our guests can enjoy outdoor dining. In our dining room we have positioned our tables so they are socially distanced but so that we still retain the atmosphere of a fine dining hotel. We are very aware that our guests come here to relax and enjoy the surroundings, the sites nearby, and our excellent food and drink, and we have put everything in place, as well as the refurbishment, to ensure they can safely enjoy the full experience.”

KEEPING PATIENTS AND STAFF SAFE

Ghyll House Upholstery and Design: Helping keep patients and staff safe at three doctors surgeries in Cumbria by helping to update waiting rooms with easy-to-clean furniture.

Ghyll House Upholstery and Design, based at Mealsgate, near Cockermouth, is working with three GP practices to update waiting rooms with easy-to-clean furniture. Castlehead Medical Centre in Keswick, Silloth Group Medical Practice, and The Croft Surgery, Kirkbride have all been proactive in working with Ghyll House to redesign their patient areas.

Ghyll House general manager Joe McAlpine said: “We are working with all the surgeries to provide cost-effective solutions for them, including specialist fast-acting, effective and durable antimicrobial fabrics and vinyls, proven to be effective against coronavirus.”

Catherine Penrice, practice manager at Castlehead Medical Centre, said the practice took the opportunity of being quieter during lockdown to revamp its waiting area. Catherine said: “We had been wanting to do it for a while. So while it was quiet and people weren’t coming in we thought let’s crack on and do the work. Joe McAlpine at Ghyll House has been brilliant. The service has been great. They have always come when they said they would and they have done an excellent job. They have taken all the seating away and recovered it and refitted it. There was some material left over so they even recovered some free-standing chairs as well. It all looks really good. They have been great to deal with.”

Castlehead is one of seven GP practices in the Keswick and Solway Primary Care Network with the others in Wigton, Aspatria, Kirkbride, Caldbeck, Dalston and Silloth. Catherine, who is operations manager for the network, has been so pleased with Ghyll House’s work at Keswick that she’s recommended the business to others in the group. Ghyll House is now busy recovering seats at the Silloth practice and fitted seating at Kirkbride, all with an antimicrobial material which is easy to clean as part of the surgeries’ sanitisation programmes to make sure their environments are safe for patients and staff alike.

Joe McAlpine said: “At Castlehead, we took out the fixed seating, replaced the cloth with an antimicrobial material which is easy to clean, and refitted it all again. We are finding a lot of businesses, whether that’s doctor’s surgeries, hair salons, gyms or restaurants, anywhere where the general public is going post lockdown, are requiring these types of changes to be made. We are happy to work to their brief, which might be recovering furniture with these antimicrobial materials, replacing furniture or redesigning their spaces with social distancing in mind. We are happy to help any businesses to adapt in a way which works best for them, their staff and their visitors so they can maximise their business while at the same time keeping everyone safe. We work best where the customer shares with us details of the space and the issues they have, including how the flow of people will work in that space given social distancing regulations, and we redesign the space for them to meet their requirements. We know that finances are going to be an issue for many of these businesses who are faced with redesigns at a time when they have been hit hard by the economic impact of coronavirus. Our solutions are focused on being cost-effective and value for money while also ensuring everything is designed with the safety of staff and customers in mind.”

Staff at Ghyll House Upholstery and Design, part of the Eco Group of companies, have returned to work at their Mealsgate HQ to help businesses transform their spaces in time for when they can reopen.

Hospitality businesses and other sectors needing to reconfigure their spaces to comply with COVID-19 social distancing regulations are being supported by furnishing experts. Cafes, bars, hotels, gyms, hairdressers, beauty salons, medical centres and schools have all already been in touch with Ghyll House general manager Joe McAlpine who is helping businesses redesign their spaces. Redesigns are focused on helping businesses reopen when lockdown eases in a way which gives staff and customers full confidence in the safety measures adopted.

Ghyll House offers a range of cost-effective solutions, including specialist fast-acting, effective and durable antimicrobial fabrics and vinyls, proven to be effective against coronavirus.

Joe (above), who is based at Ghyll House’s Cumbria headquarters, said: “In the pubs, hotels, restaurants and cafes sector across the Lake District and beyond we have had a lot of inquiries asking how their spaces can be redesigned so they are able to safely serve customers. Booths, where families and friends can sit in groups of four people or more, are one aspect of a redesign which are attracting a lot of interest.

We work best where the customer shares with us details of the space and the issues they have, including how the flow of people will work in that space given the social distancing regulations, and then we redesign the space for them to meet their requirements. We know that finances are going to be an issue for many of these businesses who are faced with redesigns at a time when they have been hit hard by the economic impact of coronavirus.

Our solutions are focused on being cost-effective and value for money while also ensuring everything is designed with the safety of staff and customers in mind. We offer a full design and fit-out service. It might be when we look at the space that making bespoke booths to fit the space will be the best option.

We might also find that we are able to recover much of the furniture with an anti-bacterial easy-to-sanitise material, which will meet all the safety requirements. We’ve been very busy recovering seating in bars, headboards in hotels, and equipment in gyms with antibacterial material. Many of these businesses know that if they are ahead of the game and are making these changes now in line with all the legislation that they are likely to win more business when they reopen as staff and customers will have confidence in their environment being safe to use.

It’s about them putting cost-effective safety solutions in place now so they are first in the queue to win back customers when lockdown is eased.”

As part of parent company Eco’s support to businesses, Ghyll House is also able to offer its customers access to a full sanitisation service of their premises before they reopen. Bars, hotels, restaurants, holiday parks, will all need to be sanitised before they reopen. People selling their homes and wanting viewings, are all going to need to make sure their premises are sanitised before potential buyers can visit. As sanitisation specialists we are helping a lot of businesses with this service. Eco have sanitised a major food industry factory and have long-standing experience of that sector as well, and can help anyone who needs to sanitise food preparation areas or kitchens.

Eco has earned praise during lockdown for keeping a factory which makes material for NHS visors operating 24/7 with its sanitisation solution services and also came to the rescue of thousands of care homes across the UK by supplying one million items of PPE within just seven days.

Eco are continuing to work closely with the medical sector and have just finished an order to reupholster all the recliner chairs and seats for a major city hospital, and have been asked for a quote to replace all the fabrics in a Lake District doctor’s surgery.

Ghyll House’s own HQ at Mealsgate near Cockermouth in Cumbria has been fitted with sanitisation stations and social distancing regulations are enforced to enable its own workforce to safely get back to work.

Joe said: “It has been great getting back into our offices this week and focusing on helping businesses to adapt so that when they are allowed to reopen they can immediately welcome back customers. It’s another way we can support and help the wider business community.”

A local customer was considering throwing out their tired, old task chairs but wanted to be more eco-friendly in their business. QUALIFIED UPHOLSTERER

This is a fabulous opportunity for an experienced Upholsterer to join a new, progressive luxury furniture upholsterer and manufacturer based in Mealsgate, Cumbria. The company specialises in reupholstery and the manufacturer of high quality upholstered furniture for both commercial and domestic markets.

Due to an ever-increasing order book we are looking to hire an energetic and enthusiastic individual that has the drive and ability to progress their career to the next level.

We are looking for a highly motivated team member with previous experience in a similar role working as a furniture upholsterer. The successful candidate will be able to work with others and alone with good communications skills working well with others and being professional and adhering to all health and safety regulations.

Key Skills Required:

- High degree of upholstery skills with a minimum of 5 years experience

- Experience of deep buttoning and traditional upholstery techniques.

- The ability to produce a good quality product with excellent attention to detail.

- Measuring and cutting skills would also be beneficial

- Ability to use own initiative and to work quickly to meet production deadlines.

BDM / ACCOUNT MANAGER

The Company:

Ghyll House Upholstery & Design have served Cumbria and SW Scotland with reupholstery services, quality contract, leisure, commercial and home furnishings for over 40 years. Based in a custom-built, 6,000 square foot furniture and design centre in Mealsgate, we are i deally located to serve commercial customers from the thriving leisure and hospitality markets in the region, Ghyll House continue to specialise in reviving, restoring and renewing soft furnishings for both business and domestic clients.

The Role:

You will be looking after existing customers and create new business opportunities within the upholstery and interiors market.
Nurture and develop relationships.
Attending face-to-face meetings.
Management of your own diary / meetings
Provide specialist advice and pricing on Ghyll House's products and services
Manage in-house handover - detailed briefing.
Replacement
Client Handover

Key Responsibilities:

Being a sales representative, you will be subject to sales and KPI targets
With face-to-face meetings you will be expected to travel – primarily around Cumbria and SW Scotland – a company vehicle will be provided.

Experience, attributes & skills sought:

Proven Sales experience - experienced in upholstery and/or interiors market is advantageous but not essential.
Excellent networking abilities
Ability to work accurately with excellent attention-to-detail.
Self-motivated and disciplined.
You will have a current driving licence.
